I bought my first gmrs radio about a year and a half ago, but have quickly been adding equipment since putting up my first real antenna on the roof.
Now have TWO on the roof and quickly amassing a pile of spare connectors, coax, ground wire, etc..
I just bought my first HT pair a couple of weeks ago, and I already have spare rubber duckies. You never know when something will come in handy or solve a problem for someone else in the discipline. I never throw anything away. Give it away, yes. Throw it away, rarely.
I have one of those old timey metal fishing tackle/ tool boxes... probably was my grandads, and it makes a decent radio "stuff" box. Not sure if it's EMP proof but I usually leave my HTs in it. to protect them too. If you can find one, I'd recommend snapping it up. I'll be on the lookout for another soon.
